About Arctic Experience

Arctic Experience AS is a tour company dedicated to providing the most authentic and successful Northern Lights adventures in Tromsø, Northern Norway. Since 2013 they have been specializing in high-precision aurora hunting, and has also built a reputation for its deep local expertise, commitment to safety, and a personalized approach that turns a simple tour into a lifelong memory.

Led by the local native Dan A. Steinbakk, famously known as "Dan the Aurora Man®",  Arctic Experience leverages decades of local knowledge and a profound understanding of Arctic weather patterns. Steinbakk is widely recognized as one of the region's foremost authorities on finding the Aurora Borealis, combining scientific data with an intuitive "sixth sense" for the skies to ensure guests have the best possible chance of witnessing the lights.

Why Arctic Experience Stands Out:

  • Expert Navigation: Rather than following fixed routes, they monitors real-time atmospheric conditions and cloud cover to chase the clearest skies across the Arctic landscape.

The Personal Touch: As a smaller, specialized operation, Arctic Experience focuses on quality over quantity, offering intimate settings that allow for direct interaction. Guests are also treated to a true taste of local hospitality that includes excellent home-baked carrot cake and the famous homemade signature vegetable soup, served warm in the wilderness.

Passion-Driven Service: Every expedition is fueled by a genuine love for the Norwegian wilderness and a desire to share the magic of the Arctic. To ensure the highest quality experience, tours are conducted every other day, allowing for strategic scheduling based on the weather forecast that maximizes the chances of finding clear skies and optimal viewing conditions (People don’t pay to look at clouds).

Whether you are a professional photographer or a first-time traveler, Arctic Experience offers an unparalleled gateway to the wonders of the North, guided by the man who knows the aurora and the weather patterns better than anyone else.

We might have to go into Finland to find clear skies, so please bring your passport/national ID-card along. Due to the length we might have to drive, and the changing temperatures/weather conditions, guests must be minimum 18 years of age: Children from the age of 10 can join the tour, if they are together with their parents/caretaker. NOTE: I do not support warm suits etc. in childrens sizes: I recommend you to rent winter clothes here: https://tromsooutdoor.shop.mysharefox.com/category/vinterklaer Cancellation: If the client cancels the booking at the latest 21 days before the tour date, the whole amount will be refunded (minus the cost of bank transfer or payment/transaction fees). Illness/injuries etc. is fortunately not a common issue, but in such cases a medical certificate from a doctor is needed. Having this will entitle you to a full refund minus the cost of payment/transaction fees.
